Triton’s Salmon Gums Project comprises 5 granted exploration licenses along the southern margin of the Fraser Ranges, about 100 km south of Norseman and 500 km southwest of AngloGold Ashanti / Independence Group's Joint Venture Tropicana Discovery. The tenements are approximately 300km southwest from AngloGold Ashanti / Independence Group's Beachcomber Prospect, where 1km x 200m spaced AC drilling intersected 3m @ 65.8g/t from 25m (see Independence Group NL Quarterly report Dec-2006 at www.igo.com.au). The Salmon Gums tenements are subject to the Tropicana Alliance Agreement with Teck Australia Ltd.

The project was pegged by Triton as a grass roots project based on generative assessment of the highly prospective Albany-Fraser region. The project area comprises approximately 1,855 square kilometers of the Yilgarn Craton-Fraser Range Mobile Belt Collision Zone, in the south-eastern part of Western Australia. For more information on the prospectivity of the region please refer to the Albany-Fraser Projects page. Access is via a network of well maintained unsealed tracks off the Esperance-Norseman highway. Tenure occurs predominantly within privately held farmland, and the project is excellently situated with regard to access to power and infrastructure.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • >1,855km2, with drill ready targets in the Albany-Fraser province of WA
  • Favourable first pass drill result comparison to early stage Tropicana results
  • Series of significant gold in soil anomalies have been identified with peak values to 179.6ppb and 236ppb Au (0.23g/t Au). • Initial focus will be on assessing the significance of initial Air Core results that include 3m @ 453ppb (including 1m @ 1128ppb) and significant thicknesses of lignite (low grade coal)

First pass wide spaced AC drilling was carried out in January 2009, with the Lady Penrhyn and Sirius prospects being tested. 148 Air Core holes at approximately 500 x 250m spacing were drilled, with an average hole depth of 26m. Extremely significant gold values were returned. Compilation and interpretation of the results is ongoing, with follow up drilling anticipated to be completed in the second half of 2009.

1 Image is of interpolated gold (ppb) data (cut to a maximum value of 20 ppb) created using Surfer software with an inverse distance algorithm, using a four quadrant, defined distance (5000m) search radius and approximately 100m grid spacing. The number of samples used to calculate each grid value is limited to four in each quadrant.
